Frankland Islands Reef Cruises

This is one day you will never forget!

Frankland Group National Park islands are located to the south of Cairns, offering the shortest open water crossing to the Great Barrier Reef (just 6 miles).  The day begins with a drive past rainforest clad mountains and sugarcane fields.

From the departure point, you will take a 30 minute cruise down the Mulgrave River on board the airconditioned vessel before reaching Normanby Island where you can snorkel straight from the beach over a wide variety of corals and giant clams, and see a multitude of tropical fish and turtles as they glide through the water; and keep an eye out for Nemo!

Should you prefer not to snorkel, you can view the spectacular coral from the comfort of a semi-submersible.  The marine biologist does a guided island walk where the unique island ecosystem and rockpools can be explored.   If you want to try scuba diving, or have a ticket, experienced dive instructors can help you enjoy a scuba dive amongst this rich underwater world.
